It's my belief that there is no mind-body connection. To say it that way implies that the mind and body are like an island and the mainland, connected by a bridge, divided by a body of water, never really meeting. Instead, I see us as a mindbodysoulheart, the most complicated organism in the universe, but when all is said and done, really still quite simple: interdependent.
This past few weeks, I've been speaking my truth more than ever before. With that candor comes vulnerability, and on the other side of that, some fear.
What will people think? That old chestnut...
And then, this weekend, a trip to the ER because my throat is not a happy camper, and suddenly I'm struggling to breathe, let alone to speak. Laryngitis.
My body, speaking to the rest of me quite clearly: your voice is a precious gift. Don't waste its energy worrying about how you think other people want you to use it. Use it for good. Live in your truth.
So while my physical voice can't produce a vlog for you this week, or at least not one that would be comprehensible, I do hope that you will still grab hold of this Monday and use it as an opportunity to speak your truth.
There are 52 Mondays in a year. Do you really want to waste 52 days a year feeling bummed? Take back Monday! Monday is renewal. Monday is a chance to make amends, to start a new project, or to tell someone what you think is the coolest thing about them. Think about it. You enter Monday with the energy you've hopefully gained over the weekend, so what better day is there to make a positive change?
I looked for some great quotes about Monday to share with you but BOO, there aren't many that are positive. So we'll just have to make our own quotes. We can do better than to toss away 1/7th of our lives.
But I did find this: on one of my favorite sites, the Online Etymology Dictionary, the history of the word Monday: it means "moon day". Pretty cool.
Last but not least, for those of you in need of some positive video vibes, here's one of my favorite TED talks. It's fun, inspiring, and yes, only 3 minutes long! This Monday, maybe you will start something or maybe you will follow. Or just dance. Dancing's good too.
Have a great Monday everyone! I'd love for you to comment below to tell me what you are doing to #TakeBackMonday.
